Question: I'm not interested in alien-type movies and try to stay away from sci-fi. However, I've enjoyed all of Will Smith's science fiction movies he's made in the past (MIB, IRobot, Independence Day.)

Yeah, it's sci-fi, and as I love sci-fi I'm going to see it! The term sci-fi doesn't always mean the film has to do with aliens. I Am Legend doesn't have aliens in it, but it's still sci-fi. If you enjoyed all those other movies by Will Smith, then I would think you might enjoy this one. So why not go see it, and if you find it too boring or whatever, just leave?

It is a remake of 'The Omega Man' with Charlton Heston and based on the novel by Richard Matheson.
Let me see-theres a virus and its the future.......YES! but, as you say, its Will Smith and he's always quality so I'm going. If you enjoyed the others-then go. Or wait and read the viewer reviews on the movie section of Yahoo....
Sorta, its about a guy who engineers a virus, then the virus gets out and turns people into "vampires". He (Will Smith) is naturally immune to the virus and so is an estimated 2% of the world. he is alone trying to find more people while fighting to survive the virus
The movie I am Legend is actual based on a book by Richard Matheson. Will Smith is the sole survivor, besides his dog that is left after a virus outbreak that mutates human life into something that is more lethal and only nocturnal. I have heard mixed reviews from people who have read the book in regards to the dramatic changes, nevertheless I want to see the movie also.
I love movies like that, i am not sure i haven;t seen it sorry
