Harvey Fierstein played Edna Turnblad in the Broadway version of Hairspray. He was in Mrs. Doubtfire. He played Uncle Frank.
I typed in 'Hairspray on Broadway' and it came up with the offical site. I went through the cast but couldn't see any of the characters who were out of Mrs. Doubtfire which is a movie I adore.
The John Travolta character is called Edna Turnblad and on Broadway in the USA is played by George Wendt. Hope this helps?!
