Question: So what is it with a Golden Compess controversy?
I saw bits and peices of it. SOmething about it being anti-Christian. Can anyone explain it?

The man who wrote the Golden Compass series is part of a Humanist League in the Uk, and has basically declaired his unbelief and that he doesn't want children to believe in God either. The series of books eventually ends with the heroin killing Yahwea, or God.

The author is an atheist and he told an interviewer that the book is about killing God and that he wants to change people's perceptions of religion.

The author of the book is an atheist and the story is about killing God or the concept of a god.

Needless to say it doesn't sit well with religious folks.

Like what everyone says. Killing God.

He says that his books are anti-Narnia. I think the problem is, Narnia wasn't trying to put anyone down. It was just a fun fiction novel! This guy is attacking and generalizing an entire group of people. Making them out to evil cause they don't believe what he believes. His motives I find,

Pretty pathetic. . .

The first book isn't bad at all; the third, however, has anti-Christian content, which doesn't bother me, but is driving others nuts. He said the books were about killing God. The enemy is the Church in the books since it is an alternate reality where church and state became one since the 1500s.
Honestly, such devout people should just relax and ignore stuff unappealing to them. We don't protest those megachurches (at least that I know of).
