Actors can also be people who have small parts in movies or can be TV actors. For example, Chris Meloni, the guy who plays Detective Elliott Stabler on "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" is an actor.

A movie star is someone who has made it big in movies, like Tom Cruise. He's also an actor, but he gets "movie star" status because he is well-known worldwide for his movies.

not much.

Actors include those in theatre and television. Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson were actors well before they appeared in movies.

Some actors never make the leap to movies, or if they do - they may not make it to star billing.

Actor: someone who just plays in the movie
