Schindlers List
comedy but sad ending is "Big"
Love Story
American beauty - poor kevin spacey! I Love kevin as an actor as well, and I love that film!
Hard to think of one on the spot, and America doesn't really seem to produce hard hitting saddening endings, they seem to want cinema goers to leave the hall with a "feel good" notion.
I recently saw, The Departed. If you watch the film with no disruptions and involve yourself in it, the ending is quit striking, or perhaps 5 minutes before the ending.
A.i (artificial intelligence)
film from a few years ago, directed by Stephen Spielberg. it's about a a robot boy who longs to be a real boy - kind of like Pinocchio, for the 21st century.. the ending was so sad, not been able to watch it since, even though it's a good film, it upset me that much.
another film that makes me cry is The Crow - especially those last few scenes - it's kind of a sad ending anyway, but even more so when u realise that Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee, and star of The Crow) died during the making of that film... he never got to see how well the film did, and i think he would have gone on to have a great career had he not died so young...
City of Angels
A dutch film called "The Vanishing" (orig title Spoorloos)
Very dark but don't let anyone ruin the ending before you see it (and stay away from the bad Hollywood remake)
the butterfly effect
argggggggggggggg i've seen so many films my memory is badddddddddddddddd
Saving Private Ryan-(great movie,sad/emotional ending)
The Departed (if you like Leonardo DiCaprio or Matt Damon)
The Notebook
Evening
my films i have seen are the green mile, ordinary people with timothy bottoms, elephant man all in which bring a tear 2 my eye.
Windtalkers
Sad ending cos Nic cage dies at the end after all that fighting.
the recent saddest ending for me is the Mist. u definitely do not see this coming...if u want to know go on IMDB in the Mist forum for spoilers. i left the theatre really mad!
The one that comes to mind is "the green mile"
There are many others, but that is the one that came to my mind first off!
- city of angels - donnie darko - forest gump - the green mile - watership down
can't think of anymore at the mo
A.I., Phantom of the Opera (I guess it just depends on who you were rooting for on whether that ending is sad). The Perfect Storm - crappy movie but sad ending, Schindler's List, We Were Soldiers
Elephant Man was sad all the way through, I also thought that the Last Samurai had a depressing ending
the list goes on....
