Great movie, purely lacking in any historic value,but an excellent flick..basicly from the movie,Longshanks, wanted the complete domination of scotland, as for what he did,he tried everything in his power to entice english nobels to take estates in scotland,sway scotish nobels to aiding him in his quest,and tried thru force of arms to put down a rebellion led by Wallace..for resolution ,the scots lost at falkirk ,wallace was captured and executed his head put on display and his limbs sent to the 4 corners of scotland. later (in the movie its almost instant,in reality its a decade later) the scots under Robert ,earl of bruce among others defeated the english under longshanks,ineffectual son at bannockburn and won scottish independence (at least for a time in reality). it makes a good story long as you dont worry about its inaccuracies and Some pure BS.
Did you watch the movie? The wordings at the end tell how the story ends up. King Edward wanted complete domination of the Scotts.....they won their freedom from his tyranny after several years of rebellion, after the martyr of their hero, William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson in the movie.
As for Robert the Bruce, according to the movie, he
ending up on the Scotts' side, fighting against Edward.
If you never saw this movie, you MUST get it....is a classic now....one of Mel's best ever.
