For understanding you can say she jumped off the bridge to her death but her purpose for doing it was the legend that says if you jump from that bridge and make a wish then it will come true. She wanted to be back in the desert with her love. Because she is bethrowed to someone else and can not stay with him otherwise.

sorta in a way, i think she did both. the part before that, she (i think her name is Jen) reunites with Lo, her lover. now that there is pretty much nothing else she can do, i think she believes it is her fate to be with him. but then, Jen might've realized that even though she will be with Lo, she won't live a happy life. jumping off the bridge was so that she could escape? i guess. i'm not so sure.
the point is for you to decide what happens to her.
