Yoda speaks his native language, just like you do. There are MANY smart creatures that do NOT speak English at all.
Well, if you really have to know, some of his speech IS proper English, at least middle-English, In Geoffrey Chaucer's time, many of the grammar rules were very similar to the way Yoda speaks.

because yoda was from the dagoba system who's national language was not originally english . i believe he learned the english he uses in the jedi academy during his jedi training.
