What's your favourite "disaster" movie?!
Question: There are so many good ones to choose from, this is one of my favorite genres, bit I would have to say Titanic. Something about a movie that makes a large tuff guy cry as much as a 15 yr old girl. There was something brilliant said about many of the personalities in that movie, I do believe some of the deleted bits should have stayed. Saw it 8 times in Theatres each with a diff person, and once on Broadway (I know not the same thing) with my wife! Awesome movie

Deep lmpact. l was teary-eyed at the end of it. The daughter forgiving her father and deciding to be with him until death is really touching.
Independence Day. Why isn't he the real President?

Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
War of the Worlds (Fifties and Steven Spielberg's versions)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Fifties and Seventies remake, although I do like "Body Snatchers" for the presence of Billy Wirth.)
Post-apocalyptic worlds~not always from war:
On the Beach~This is one of the most melancholy films ever made, definitely very anti-war, as people in Australia await the arrival of fallout from a nuclear war. The song "Waltzing Matilda" is used throughout the film.

I'm not really partial to Irwin Allen's films. The first time through, they were entertaining, but he sort of overstayed the welcome, which he has a habit of doing in his TV series.
NOTE: The man who gave us "Independence Day" outright thieved the destruction of Washington, D.C., claiming it as HIS idea, saying that it had never been done before! Ray Harryhausen did it first in the Fifties in "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers"! Also, the "I.D." rat never admitted he "borrowed" concepts from "V" and "V: The Final Battle"! Who placed ships over all the major cities of the world? Kenneth Johnson, creator of "V", did it first and much better!
Twister, Day After Tomorrow or Armageddon
Day After Tomorrow - Great CGI, and an entertaining example of how Global Warming could affect our world.
Independance Day. Smart, realistic, and done in a convincing way. Most disaster films are too over the top to be believable- but they did an awesome job finding the right balance with ID. A close second would be the War Of The Worlds remake- despite Tom Cruise.
Hard to say, there are so many I like. Here's just a few. The Towering Inferno, Earthquake, Flood, Fire, By Dawn's Early Light, The Day After Tomorrow, St. Helens, Meteor, Armageddon, & the 2004 Presidential Election. lol
