This is a tough one, I'll go wiht freddy krueger, sure he isnt the best looking guy out there but what he lacks in good looks he makes up for in charm and witt, and besides I know he is your fave!!! I LOVE YOU JOHNNY B GOOD xoxoxoxoxo

I prefer Freddy because he was the focus of the very first horror film I have ever seen.
Also the Crypt Keepers puns, although many times funny, have become stale and predictable over the years.
Crypt Keeper, cause to me freddy kruger is overrated? compared to the crypt keeper, and i always like an underdog. =)
The Crypt Keeper because corny jokes comming from something that freaky looking just skips funny and goes straight to down right awesome.
Freddy's scarier, But Crypt Keeper is Funnier.

The Crypt Keeper by far. I love the stroies. they don't scary you have to death and don't make you not be able to sleep at night. I used to watch it but it seems that it has been canceled. Freddy krueger should go get plastic surgury or something cause he just plain ugly. The Crypt Keeper is so much better and sometimes funny. hope this helps?
Freddy baby. no contest...the Crypt Keeper was somewhat amusing (like Freddy) but not very scary...The Keeper is gonna tell you a story (a story where something, not him, kills someone else), Freddy is going to kill you unless you kill him...But I may be biased because i have loved Freddy since i was a little girl...When i was a small child i wanted to marry him, don't ask...But anyway, Freddy had his own video game, not to mention R rated movies where he could inflict a little more violence onto folk compared to the Crypt Keeper and his, uh, stories.

Just the fact that Freddy comes in dreams makes him way scarrier and interesting than the Crypt Keeper.

The Crypt Keeper, he strikes me as having a more intelligent wit.
I like both Freddy and The Crypt Keeper. They've both hosted a series. Freddy hosted his Nightmares. He's my favorite because he has a interesting history in and out of the movie. Wes Craven based him on a childhood bully and a man he used to see at night the wore a fedora. The ability to kill people in dreams was inpired by an account of a cambidian man i believe who wouldn't go to sleep because he believed if he did he would die. His family got him to go to sleep and he died.
Freddy's look was also based on the Shadow. Freddy seems to be the essence of what is scary. People generalize him as a wisecracking villain because of the sequels but that not what Freddy truly is imo. Freddy is Wes Craven's vision of him, that is part 1 & 3 (7 breaks the continuity) but technically it can be counted.
When I saw Tales from the Crypt I thought the setting and music was scary but not the Crypt Keeper. When I saw a Nightmare on Elm Street It was scary to go to bed, even with the lights on, lol. In the Nightmae sequels I laughed at one liners (which were meant by Robert Englund to misdirect the audience instead of having a banal straight line scare you movie) So Freddy had both qualites. His cracks were often of pop culture whereas the Crypt Keeper's were quips and puns.
Director Rachel Talalay said "The first Nightmare film was inherently terrifying. I knew it was a good film when I read the script and I couldn't sleep that night, which is almost impossible because there are a million lights and you know what they're doing and it was still scary. And when I saw the first cut of it it was really scary. I've been to the set everyday shooting and looking at pieces of rubber and know how they did everything and it was still scary and it still scares me today" -from The Making of Nightmare 4 vid. That's why I pick Freddy.
