Has anybody read the books to the new film "the golden compass", i hav!

Question: I loved this trilogy, I think I even turned down work so I could finish it. I hope they do it justice in the movie. But more than that I hope Philip Pullman gives us a chance to go back to that world.

Thanks Ttb, that is perfect, I have a long flight tomorrow and looking for a good book. Looks like I got a thumbs down for liking a book.

Who are they by and what are they called?, I only found out there were books yesterday and would like to read them =0)

I haven't read them because they are against all Christian religions, and everyone who believes in God. I am VERY disappointed that they are releasing a movie. I warn people: if you have any faith at all, stay well away! PLEASE!

Yep.. they are great. The movie should be good.. but I'm worried about the bear - not what I was expecting!

against God.....no way..... SHAME

They aren't against god. i've read them and i'm in the process of reading them all again. i think they're great books. i go to church and i dont see the problem. the only reason people think it's against the church is because the church ( in the book) refuse to believe there is any other reality other than this one. i personally believe that this book, which is aimed at teenagers, would help children develope their own understanding of the world ,religeon and science. the bible does nothing but tell us about god, creation and jesus. to the bible science doesn't exist and to say that this book is against god or anti religeious is just plain wrong. it shows different views towards religeon and science. i cant wait for the film and i only hope that they dont cut out any parts that they think will offend people because they are single minded.

if u are christian like me u shouldnt see this movie!!! they go on a quest to kill jesus and god!!! i dont have anything againist ppl who dont care just i wouldnt see it.

I love the trilogy. one of the best series of books ive read.

Quite disappointed at the rumours going around about the film though, apparently they are removing all religious references so as not to offend.

i dont see why it would offend anyone because to start with it's set in a FICTIONAL world where their 'church' is totally different to ours.

I am still going to see the film but i'm expecting it to leave me infuriated at how its killed the book.
