I agree with Closer and will add to that "The Last Kiss" and "Waitress" - I loved both of those for that reason
Those are some good movies that still have a romantic feel to them (Closer is about romance but I wouldn't say it was a romance) but you also don't ever know what's going to happen. Just as in life!
Brokeback Mountain. I've met a lot of folks who don't think it's realistic, but they're wrong. In the time and place that the movie is set, no happy ending would have been possible.
