This isn't very helpful, since I haven't seen it myself, but my friend really loved it. She said the acting was good and the story line was unique. Actually, I'm heading out to rent it tonight! I would rent it before you buy it, because I've heard it's not to some people's tastes.
It's based on a musical theatre production but the movie is only a year old. The musical itself is quite old. I'm not sure if there's an older version of the movie, but there could be.
I can't wait to see it!
I found it pretty uninteresting and gay.
Got some little bits of homosexuality in it, but it's great. It's got Richard Griffiths in it - it's GOT TO be good! :-P

Went on imdb, and they only have one film called 'The History Boys', which is the 2006 adaptation of a stage play by Alan Bennett, starring Richard Griffiths.
I saw the play, which was really good. Haven't seen the film, I'm afraid.
