FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!
No hesitation for me there! I saw this in the theater and have loved it ever since. It's the best thing John Hughes ever did. It's such a joyous film and it's not too mean-spirited. The three friends are supportive of each other, which is sweet. Ferris in the parade practically had the audience standing! This was a matinee filled mainly with college kids, with my mom and I the oldest ones, yet we were just as caught up in it as everyone else. All of us stayed through the credits, too, so we didn't miss being told to go home!
Since then, I've seen it on movie channels many times and, of course, taped it for watching convenience.
Everyone with children~little ones or teens~told me the same thing: "They want to be Ferris Bueller!" They always laughed when they said this, so I wasn't certain if that was a good or bad thing. I guess it meant that the film obviously brought everyone together, so maybe the adults all wanted to be a bit like him, too. I was a fan of Matthew Broderick long before this, so I knew he would be a delight.
