What type of STUDIO'S do MAJOR LABEL recording artist USE & how much does it!

Question: That is a really vague question.

In the old day most major labels had there own studios and used them exclusively. Now it can be just about anywhere and is most dependent on the recording budget. low budgets equal cheaper studios. high budgets equal higher end studios. As far as the cost goes it varies:

1.) are you just doing tracking only at the studio?
2.) are you mixing at the studio as well?
3.) are you mastering at the studio (probably not, most big budgets get mastering engineers who have there own seperate studio with really high end equipment)
4.) how many studio musicians do you have to hire to perform?
5.) studios usually charge by the hour, day or week
6.) how well do you know your music? if you don't know it very well and can't keep in time than that means more takes and eventually more time and money
7.) do you need loops or production work?

these are all added costs that add up to the price. Hope this helps. the more prepared you are when you go into record the less it costs. but if money isn't an object, us audio engineers will do whatever the hell you want to a certain point, as long as we are getting paid (starting from about 30$ an hour)
