'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' - original version. Maybe not strictly Zombies but scary nonetheless.
28 days later because it actually offers a reason for why there are zombies, and also because cinematically and musically it is in a grander scope than other zombie movies.
Shaun of the Dead is good, however it would go more under the spoof genre. It's like calling Naked Gun a Spy movie and not a comedy.
Shaun Of The Dead- by far the most entertaining zombie ever, it has gut-busting laughs and gore everywhere

OK everyone says this because it is true.
28 days later IS the best zombie movie ever, but only the first half. Man that first hour is like all that you want in a zombie movie. But once you get to the part with the army it is no good.
After that it becomes all about rape and people going psycho and it looses all its cool.
Second to that I would say is surly Dawn of the Dead (2004) This one would have been number one but there is excessive sexuality and weird stuff like zombie babies. Yuck! But most of it is really true to life in that no one knows whats going on. And they have really creative moments.

28 days later is about a virus that enrages people to violence, people infected died later from no more people to eat.
dawn of the dead and resident evil are about dead people coming back to attack the living.
I'm not sure why everyone is naming 28 days later as one of the best zombie movies. IT is a good horror movie but the infected are not zombies...the writers and director have stated this quite a few times.
Okay so my pic would be Night of the Living Dead(the original version)..George Romero started the whole zombie craze and his movies are excellent! Also, most hilarious zombie movie would have to go to Shaun of the Dead
