Answers: Because I dont think it did...

Especially not when Milo was thrown over the face of the cliff...

Here's some information I've found:

http://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/dfrv?mid=180...

This is from another site:
"The Adventures of Milo and Otis does not include a single human character on-screen. It's the work of a Japanese author and filmmaker, Masanori Hata, who shot it over a period of several years as 'Koneko Monogatari,' using 400,000 feet of film and about 30 cats to play Milo. The associate director, Kon Ichikawa, is the renowned creator of such Japanese classics as Tokyo Olympiad and The Burmese Harp."
MY NOTE: Anyone who has owned a kitten knows the rapid rate of growth, which is why it would be necessary to have so many over the years of filming this movie. We have had foundlings double and even triple their size in 2-3 weeks.

By the way, U.S. films cannot pat themselves on the back because tripwires were used for horses for a very long time. Are we going to banish all of those Westerns and historical movies in which this was used? This is still practiced in other countries, and they can't be guaranteed that, when U.S. filmmakers are working outside the country, they are following regulations.

Should we get rid of "Flipper" TV series and movies? Several dolphins basically killed themselves while in captivity by bashing themselves against the walls that enclosed them. I heard that from an interview with the man who used to do some of the training. That's what made him get out of that line of work: realizing the intelligence of dolphins/porpoises. So, if we're going to banish one film, where do we stop?

Also, we are in a culture that stands by while thousands of animals~cats and dogs~are destroyed every day. Do you think each receives a shot and "goes to sleep"? Instead, many shelters used decompression chambers. There are people who think nothing of killing cats and even boast about doing this.

So, quit being upset about a film that was released 18 years ago! Check some of the links if you're curious enough.

yea ive always thought that movie was mean to those animals too.

hahaha that was funny :D

Probably not.

I'm sure they did.

I LOVE that movie. I am sure they didnt hurt any of the animals.

most likely not.

I don't know but don't corrupt my nostalgic love of the movie!!
I used to watch it in bed with my fave cousin. The best moments of my life were spent watching that movie. When I was eight, I literally wanted to be a baby farm kitten.

Its called using a dummy or in this case a stuffed animal! DUH! you have got to be kidding me when u asked that. Besides those animals are dead now anyway!! LMAO

ehh, not really.

it was meant to be a cute movie for kids

Who cares it was a good movie I enjoyed it and am thinking of unwrapping and watching it now for the first time in on DVD! Thank you for reminding me that I had that movie!

get a life....this bothers you?...join the peace core...go to africa

hmm..
i've never seen that movie, but in hannah montana i remember that it was miley and lily, and they were guys, and their names were milo and otis, were they referring to this movie?

Yes considering how senstive Hollywood is to animals.
They have to be very careful with animals.

It is a Japanese film, they do not have the same animal cruelty standards for making motion pictures as Hollywood does and don't have to abide by US standards if they don't want to. I don't know what type of animal cruelty standards they have. Just as a personal opinion tho, I don't think they have the same safeguards that Hollywood has to make sure animals aren't injured. It is truly a shame.

a lot of times hollywood makes it look like they r doing what u c on the screen but it is all camera tricks the cat was thrown of a boom and into loving arms against a moving back drop they slow that cam done and make it look like it is being thrown off
