In Harry Potter and The Sorcerer Stone, why and how did Harry can speak to the s!

Question: Hey

firstly, this is sortof a spoiler, but. it is due to the fact that harry is a parselmouth. this is an acquired trait he inherited from voldemort after the connect was made when he tried to kill harry. the ability was passed onto him, and so he can understand them, and they can understand him though it all seems subconscious to him and he doesnt realise he is doing it.

originally voldemort had it as he was infact a decendent of salazar slythering the head of slytherin house who's trademark animal was infact a snake and was one of the first known parselmouths (as they are called)

voldemort himself also has a pet snake named Nagini, who's close bond becomes important later on

hope that helped.

It is revealed in later series of Harry Potter that Lord Voldemort left a part of him inside Harry Potter when he tried to kill Harry but failed in the process. Lord Voldemort is a decedent of Salazar Slytherin who is said to have the ability to talk to snake.

In HP & Philosopher's Stone [original title], Harry accidently spoke to the snake at the zoo, where they went for Dudley's birthday. Its the first time he realised he can speak to snakes.
In HP & Chamber of Secrets [book 2], Harry again spoke the snake-language Parseltongue, to call off the snake that tried to attack one of the students. That's when everybody found out that Harry can speak Parseltongue. He only hears the basilisk because he can speak it.
It is later revealed to Harry by Dumbledore that when Voldemort tried to kill him, he passed some of his powers to Harry, including the ability to speak Parseltongue.

Harry could seak Parsel tongue because of power/ magic transfer from Voldemort.... This goes back to the attack when Harry was a baby. None of the professors were exactly sure how the power was transfered, but they know it was when Voldemorts magic backfired on him that it happened. Harry was speaking to the snake to stop it from attacking a student during a duelling class. Does this help at all?

he cant he was acting gay lol..

Harry had no idea he was speaking parselmouth. When Voldemort tried to kill Harry the spell backfired on him and he left a part of himself in Harry. Rowling reveals this in a later book.

At that point, Harry didn't know how he could do it. Later on, however, it was explained by Dumbledore (in the second movie) that when Voldemort attacked Harry, some of his powers were transferred to him. The peopel who had the power of talking to snakes were called Parselmouth.

harry has the ability to speak parseltongue (or talk to snakes)...he got this power when voldemort cursed him as a baby w/ the killing curse that didn't kill harry but weakened voldemort...very few wizards have this ability...
