Currently, my favorite film in the horror genre is John Carpenter and Debra Hill's 1980 film - "The Fog". The '05 remake didn't do it justice. Both Janet Leigh (Psycho) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Janet's daughter star in the film. The movie leaves a lot to the imagination, which actually is more scary than what Hollywood can create, sometimes.

The music and soundtrack are all original and penned by John Carpenter (as in all his films).
