Yes, it is a cartoon, he have gotten better and better at Animation and now they have made it so you cant tell whats real from whats fake, that movie looks wicked weird! But i cant wait for it to come out!

They are digitally stuck into the environnement. It is used in highly stylised movies where building a complete set is just not doable.

It looks like it will be a CG Movie. Its made using digitally enhanced live actions so yeah.
the movie is both. in order to do all the fighting and get that dark golden look that is in the movie their is a lot of computer graphics. first thy do some filming of a person than that lode that film onto a computer that can some how take the looks from the Short film and like make them do that thy want them to do in the movie..so it looks animated.
it's cg like the first final fantasy movie, they wanted it to look real so they used actual scans of the actors and actresses....
