Harry potter... the trick of the mind...?!

Question: ok so this might come of as confusing but i just thought of this and i want some feedback. so i recently found out that the first harry potter movie was originally going to be directed by steven speilberg. I KNOW RIGHT?! so anyway, i heard that he dropped out because he would only direct if haley joel osment was harry. and i thought "wow". if osment had been the star, nobody would ever know who dan radcliffe was, and maybe emma and rupert might not have been cast either. when i think of the world without these amazingly gifted and talented ppl in this world, unknown to the public, it makes me want to cry. we have based our whole understanding of the bitter-sweet legend of harry potter on these well-known faces. without them, what would happen? would millions of girls melt at the sight of osment? would dan, emma, or rupert ever make a break in the world of fame at all? is it just me or does the mind trick us into thinking that these actors are so great, just because they are the stars?

well when jk rowling was looking for stars in her movie she wanted to go with relativley unknown actors and actresses. of course she made some exceptions but she wanted everyone to fit their characters role with perfection. i mean honestly, look at alan rickman....is there anyone that you could imagine to be better for severus snape? i doubt it. and dan, emma and rupert are the PERFECT trio. there is no way that jk rowling would pass them over. she said her connection with the three of them was instantaneous. if osment had been cast as harry it would have been rediculous. in chamber of secrets when harry hears the basilisk in the corridors all anyone would say was "oh there he goes listening to those dead people again!", laugh and make a joke out of the movie. dan emma and rupert are great because they bring the world we have grown to love within jk rowlings novels to life and when we watch those movies we feel like we could be there! without harry dan would have probably made his break into fame at some point, he was already in oliver twist when he was young and his father is in the film buisness. emma and rupert are more questionable however. who knows? but all i know is that i'm glad they did.

Wow thats pretty crazy. But isn't he too old to play Harry. I wayy perfer Dan Radcliffe

you are soo right, there might be more talented pple than those three, but they were lucky and got the papers and now everyone knows them, and that could be anyone else..but still i love dan and im so happy he got to be harry :)

Interesting. To be honest, i dont know 100% what you mean, but i get the general idea, and i agree.
I'd glad they casted who they did, though. Especially Rupert Grint :) He is the best actor out of the 3, i think. As for Haley Joel Osment, nothing against him but Dan is definitely a better Harry Potter.

Without fans, stars are nothing. Is that what you're asking.

Lol, I can't imagine Osmond being harry, i think the movie would've turned out too creepy to show it to kids if speilberg and him had been in it.

I do know that Dan wasn't trying to be an actor, he's the son of one of the producers of harry potter and the p.s. and the director happened to see him one night, and said 'there's our harry!' after lots of searching. So it was sort of thrust upon him.

i liked the director who did the first two movies better than the others.

I agree with what you said (and I never really liked Osment in the first place!) and girls might not have melted from familiarity because Speilberg actually wanted the movie to be cgi (like the Robert Zemeckis films). Basically, Speilberg is an extremely good director but if did Harry Potter, he would have f*cked it up!

thank god that special effects hack speilberg didn't get a chance to destroy that movie. that moron has directed every kid in every movie like a cartoon characature
