Do I have to watch "The Godfather" if I want to watch Part II?!
Question: my friend let me borrow "The Godfather: Part II" and I want to know if I need to watch Part I first
Answers: my friend let me borrow "The Godfather: Part II" and I want to know if I need to watch Part I first
It's a lot better if you do, as you'll understand a lot of the backstory going on with the characters. Many of the ones from the first movie (e.g. Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire) are back for the sequel.
For example, the movie features brief clips of James Caan, who was in the first movie but is not in the second movie (you'll understand why).
However, the second movie shows the early life of Don Corleone as played by Robert De Niro (the first movie featured Don Corleone as an old man played by Marlon Brando), so it might be interesting to watch the second one first and then go back and watch the first one.
Either way, both movies are excellent!
It always helps to watch the first installment of any line of sequels.
Yes
You dont have to. But II will make more sense if you do.
