The Blair witch was actually just folklore in colonial times but was never actual. Funny thing is, the 3 students in it had intended to produce a documentary about it but only one was in it for the movie.and lure the other 2 into the path sets. But props on the producers as it only cost 45K to produce and end up grossing $145 million, not too shaby if you ask me.

Completely fictional. The History Channel special on the subject was just an advertisement for the film, too. It was really well done, though, and I thought it was real for a long time.
