Question: What did you think? I thought it was even creepier in Japanese. There is something really horrible about that film especially that sound. Any comments.

i didn't watch it though i have got it on dvd. It is definately a creepy film and like some of the previous people i would recommend the japanese versions. i dont watch the american versions on principle. if the original is a classic, why try to re make it, it's always going to be worse.
But yes that sound is horrible to a point of being unbearable, try it in the dark with surround sound on, its worse. the japanese definately know how to give the films an atmosphere of their own. i agree, try Ring it's the first japanese film i saw but it got me hooked and it's still a favourite horror film. not the american ring, it's rubbish and tries to rely on jumpy moments to scare rather than putting the thought into your head and making your mind work like the japanese ones.
Yes I have seen it, not on channel four though. Yes I agree, it is much creepier, it works better!

Definitely creepier. If you like any hollywood film, find out if it's a remake of a japanese film, then watch the original. The chances are there will be better acting and you won't notice that the production cost a fraction of the remake.

I did not see it the other night, but I have seen it and I agree, the original is so eery and in your face at the same time. Japanese horrors are always better made because the film will often be so raw and with no holds barred. I think the new version is good and really creeps me out but sometimes the original is best. (although, this is not the case with The Hills Have Eyes, the 70's version is just pure comedy!)
I watched it quite a while ago by my self in the dark thinking that it would be really scary but ended up laughing all the way through. i unfortunately have a very weird sense of humour and find films like this very funny. I blame it on my brothers as they let me watch the nightmare on elmstreet and other horror films when i was really little.
Must admit though that it is definitely creepier than the modern America version.
The Japanese version is much more scary, more creepy and more horrifying than the American version. But the part on The American version were Yoko's Jaws were split open and her tongue was hanging from her mouth really creeped me out.
the original's are always the best like the ring the american one is crap. but japanese one is a hell of alot better. Never bother with remakes they are never as good as the orignals.
I agree, the japanese version is scarier - if you haven't seen it yet watch the japanese version of 'Ring' - it's even scarier
