Trying to find a movie i watched years ago. HELP?!
Question: (bare with my description) I think it was some sort of action movie. Don't know who was in it, but I remember it involved going between two different times in peoples lives (possible time travel?). I remember one specific scene where two people (lets say "bill" and "tom") are in a bar fight or something, then it switches to, maybe five (if i were to guess) years in the past where "bill" gets his hand blown off by a shotgun. and then it goes back to the bar fight in the future, and as "bill" is about to punch someone, his hand starts deforming and then just turns into a stub. does anyone know which movie this is?!

The men aren't in a barfight, but those scenes do happen in "Frequency" (2000), which stars Dennis Quaid and James (Jim) Caviezel as father and son, respectively, communicating through time via ham radio (the same one, only in different times)~thanks to the aurora borealis that might not last long enough (a good suspense-builder).

Some nitpick about this different take on time travel, but I love to just go with the flow of it and enjoy the story, which is bittersweet with many twists and turns in the past and present. It IS an action film, as well as a mystery, and a science fiction/fantasy film. I've watched it numerous times and never nitpicked once!
OOPS! I always take too much time typing details to get back in time. Oh well... At least this reassures you that this must be the film!
It sounds as if it MAY be "Frequency", starring Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid.

The son is being attack by an older retired policeman that is the serial killer of nurses. Back in the father's time (Dennis Quaid), the same policeman, younger, gets his hand shot off by Dennis Quaid and the future with the son changes where the policeman's arm changes to a stump. This is a great movie!
