Answers: how was jigsaw being cut open at the begining then at the end it went back to saw 3??? what happened there???

no matter what you know it was a good moive

The ending was THE BEGINNING of the movie. What you saw at the beginning was the end. And both Saw IV and Saw III were taking place at the same time.

What confused me is why I paid to watch this trash.

The only part that was SAW 4 was the beginning autopsy and then returning to the autopsy at the end... basically we all paid to see SAW 3 1/2.

because the story was told out of order, not to mention the fact that they reused the same plot twist as SAW 2...

The story was told out of chronological order and Jigsaw has a new apprentice and a cop is left lying on the floor and the apprentice closes the door on him and says game over.

Yeah it's confusing, isn't it? Saw 4 isn't told in a linear timeline manner, jumping back and forth. Saw 3 and Saw 4 are "twin brothers", they happen at around the same time.

When you see Jigsaw being cut open at the beginning of Saw 4, it is actually the end -- which means the autopsy takes place after all events in Saw 3 and Saw 4 happen. It really helps to read the explanation from http://www.moviepooper.com/6/2654saw4.ht... (quoted below between the ***** is not my own writing):

***** "Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) is placed in a room with Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) and Jigsaw middleman Art (Justin Louis), who all have intricate death instruments attached to them. When Officer Rigg (Lyriq Bent) makes it into the room before time expires, he triggers the trap that kills Matthews by crushing his skull, but not before Matthews fires a single shot into Rigg's chest. Art plays a tape, which has Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell's) voice explaining that the purpose of this movie's game was to test his obsession. As his obsession led to the deaths of all those he tried to save, he failed, and he shoots Art in the head before Art can release himself. Hoffman unties himself and gets up, revealing that he is the new Jigsaw, as was revealed by discussion earlier in the film.

Now this is the confusing part:
Even though there is an FBI investigation going on at the same time as these events, it is important to understand that the events of SAW IV take place at the same time as the events of SAW III.

That's why when FBI agent Strahm (Scott Paterson) breaks into the room with Jeff in it (from III) and kills him, Jigsaw's dead body is there. The tape played at the beginning of the movie is removed AFTER everything has happened, so that Hoffman can continue Jigsaw's work with little police interference. It turns out Hoffman was in on Jigsaw's plan from part III as well. Amanda (Shawnee Smith) knew Hoffman was apprenticing with Jigsaw as well, so everything was in place long ago. As for how exactly Jigsaw got a hold of Hoffman and inspired him to follow in his footsteps...well, we'll find out in SAW V, won't we?" *****

Today I found that someone kind has written and posted the complete Saw timeline, check it on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0890870/boar...
Though it may be a little too detailed, it's helpful to understand the complexity of the Saw series. Who knew whom, who did what, who knew what fact, when an event happened, etc.

I personally want to add, to the already amazing timeline posted by a Saw fan, something like (SORRY everyone, SPOILER HERE) .......
"Perhaps Hoffman is just a pawn, not the real apprentice of Jigsaw; the real next Jigsaw may later kidnap Hoffman and test him in Saw 5."

Hope it helps, mate! :)
