What's the difference between Villain and Antagonist?!

Question: A villain is a character who does evil, destructive things. The antagonist is simply the character or force that moves against the main character, the protagonist. The antagonist may be "good' itself, because in a story the protagonist can be evil!

Ask yourself which one are you?

An antagonist isn't always the bad guy... it it merely the person who fights against the main character (the protagonist).

I am not totally sure on this but here is my best shot. I think that an antagonist is the opposite of a protagonist in the story. This does not have to be a villian per say just somebody that emodies the opposite viewpoint of the protagonist.

a vilain is somebody who tries to harm or disrupt, an antagonist is somebody who opposes you on a specific issue... there is nothing to be confused about, both are very different, a vilain can be an antagonist but he can side with you on some issues.

villain and Antagonist are basically the same thing-- they contend against the hero of a story, just that Antagonist can be circumstance, nature, or person. Villain is evil person.

Not much difference except a villian can be human. They both are things set in the way to try to keep the good from prevailing.

villain is the bad guy.

antagonist doesn't have to be a bad guy. He just have to be a torn in your side.

A villain is evil and antagonist is an opportunist who is evil!! LOOK AT THE HOLLYWOOD BIG MOUTH ACTORS AND TAKE YOUR PICK!

in my opinion a villan is a character that sets out to intentionally impede the hero or cause mayhem and destruction...
to use an example the joker from batman

an antagonist on the other hand may or may not be intentionally trying to stop the hero..

A villain is an antagonist...one that is clearly evil. However, the reverse may not always be true. An antagonist is not necessarily a villain, but they is an OPPONENT of the protagonist...opposed to them in some crucial way, but not necessarily evil...just an opponent, or one whose goals and aims differ from or work against the protagonist.

An antagonist becomes a villain when he/she has given vent to the antagonism by actually doing something.
