So they set out looking for a suicidal roomate so they can stay in college. One of the main characters played Zack in Saved By The Bell. It's a really dumb movie but its funny and I never found out what it was called.

It's actually Tom Everett Scott, who looks like but is not Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack in Saved By The Bell).
A much better movie that came out the same year about similar subject matter is Dead Man's Curve / The Curve, directed and written by first-timer Don Roos and starring Matthew Lillard, Michael Vartan, Keri Russell and Dana Delaney. It's a black comedy but a much much better take on the same topic.
