Best Halloween movie (not the series but horror in general :)...)?!

Question: THE EXORCIST - ignore the fact that it was made in 1973 and doesn't have the SFX of modern movies, just revel in the fact that the content and storyline is fubar and the demonic possession of a 12 year old is pretty damn scary - great stuff

Also THE ENTITY is a goody and lets not forgst POLTERGEIST ("you moved the stones but not the graves???") - welcome to Cuesta Verde!

The Grudge.

Dark Water (Jap) gave me the shiits too.

Carrie was quite a good film with a scary ending.

the new one,it's great.

Ghost ship and Dog soldiers (brilliant).

1. The Exorcist
2. Salem's Lot (David Soul version)
3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The 1974 original, not the cr@ppy remake)

I always thought 'The Crow' was by far the best Halloween film.

I know it's not scary, but in my opinion it has no equal when it come to atmosphere, originality and action.

Brandon Lee was excellent in it, and Michael Wincott is at his sadistic, f**ked-up best.

The soundtrack is fantastic too. None of that instrumental crap or choirs of children going 'aaaahhh-aaaahh-aahh' or whatever, just well chosen tracks from some excellent artists. The Cure's 'Burn' track while Eric Draven is putting on his make-up and running across the rooftops still gives me goose-bumps and I must have watched it fifty times already.

On the subject of cool horror films with excellent soundtracks, 'The Lost Boys' has got to be up there somewhere too. Kiefer Sutherland is the only guy cool enough to pull off that mullet too. I tried it once and looked like the biggest pratt ever.

Hocus Pocus is great for kids
The Grudge i ans ii

the first candyman was quite good and imagine saying candyman five times in the mirror on halloween.LOL

My two favorite horror movies are "Rosemary's Baby" and "Alien." :) I won't say they're the best, but I love to watch them around Halloween when I just want to scare myself badly.

The Grudge
