IMBD is not a site most people go to for the movie ratings. In my opinion movie rating's are crap because every person has a different tastes in movies. IMBD is best for finding out who is in what movie, and general info on the movie. I cant count how many times my family has got done watching a movie and the first thing my mom does is go to IMBD to check and see what other movies the actors were in the movie. If you want movie reviews go to yahoo or some other site.

I don't pay attention to the ratings because, well, quite frankly, .... .... ....
People are idiots.
But I do like the information about the movies, the stars, the memorable quotes, the trivia....
It's a good site with a lot of good info.
imdb is a good resource and its reviews overall reflect what the general public really thinks of a movie (which is usually right). Should, for example, "Spider-Man 3" be rated as a 9 out of 10? Absolutely not, no matter how much money it makes. It just wasn't that good of a film.
That aside, I wish their search feature was a little more intelligent.
All in all, though, I think that rottentomatoes.com typically gets movie ratings right. Just my opinion.
I like IMDB because it settles arguements in our house. It seems like every time we watch a movie we get into a "discussion" about what other movie we've seen a person in. It's a very handy web site. I often find that people give good movies really bad reviews and bad ones really good ones. Entertainment Weekly does it too. I take movie reviews with a grain of salt since movie reviewers tend to love the high brow art house stuff (which is usually pretentious and boring) and hate broad comedies and action movies.
I usually go through the reviews and read the negatives.. I've found that you can really tell if a film is good or bad by the negatives. Seriously, if the negative reviews are well written and make valid points... the movie usually stinks. If the review is just a bunch of complaining about how so and so s*cks, then the film is generally alright.
I enjoy the site quite a bit even if the trivia pages are generally wildly inaccurate.
I do, it is a great site. Although I dislike having to log in to view the user comments.
I love it for general purposes but don't pay any attention to the movie ratings.
