It IS "Joy Ride" (2001), which is a real thriller! Thanks for your question, which reminded me about this film that I haven't seen for a number of years. By the way, Ted Levine gave "Rusty Nail" the trucker that memorable voice. He now co-stars on "Monk", the Tony Shalhoub series on USA.
According to the credits, Levine provided the voice, but Matthew Kimbrough portrayed the trucker in the film. Perhaps Kimbrough's voice wasn't quite what they were~um~listening for. Yet, Levine is formidable-looking enough that I wonder why he didn't play the role completely. Now, I'm curious about that.
Paul Walker, Steve Zahn and Leelee Sobieski starred in this, but Zahn and that truck stole the movie~at least for me.
