Have you talk this to someone else? Maybe you need to do some exercise like swimming, jogging outside or do some gardening.

I always do that to forget something bad that happen to me. But seriously, i dont think you want to watch The Sphere, The Thing, Saw 1-4, Final Destination 1-3 movie. Those are even worse than Hannibal.

I get that too. You're just disturbed by the movie. Watch a really funny movie to get your mind off of it. You'll fall asleep sooner or later. Good luck!
:)

You need to watch something else on tv to get your mind of it! Try something boring like the food network or HGTV something. It always works for me!

Think of all the poor kiddies in Abyssinia who don't have dvd players. As for hot tea: are you trying to make your nice answerers retch?

It's not at all stupid! I keep trying to erase bad memories from movies and books from my mind, and it truly can be difficult when one clings like a bulldog, worrying away at your thoughts. For me, the worst has been "Cabin Fever", which I wish I had never watched! That's why I steer clear of films that might leave such lasting marks. Clips of "Saw" and "Hostel" have convinced me that I don't want to see them; why inflict yourself with such sights that claim to be entertainment? I've made up my mind not to anymore!

It would help if you did something else, such as watch a sitcom or something sort of "mindless" on TV. Also, you could read part of a book to try to replace the memory; but then, your mind can fuss at you, "Read more! I want to know more!" *giggle* Or, look through photo albums if you have them. You also could select some YouTube videos, especially if they have some of your favorite songs. Surf the Web to look for various images. If you like butterflies, find pictures of them. Or, choose something at random.

That lingering memory is going to want to be remembered; at least, that's what it seems to me. It can be difficult to ignore it. But, with practice, perhaps you can dim this memory.

Trust me: I understand, and I'll bet lots of others do, too.

watch a comedy to get it out of your head

Have a nice cup of warm milk add a little bit of cinnamon and some vanilla. Go drink this, put yoor feet up, go watch the telly, but don't watch any more weird things tonight. And whatever you do, DON'T Look under the bed, I'm trying to sleep.

Hello Leah.

Movies like Hannibal are very graphic and can have this sort of effect on many people, especially those who don't care for the level of implied or depicted sadism involved.

If you truly don't care for this type of 'entertainment', either research movies ahead of time, which admittedly can be difficult, or turn them off as soon as you realise what they are and before they can give you the level of discomfort you so obviously receive from them.

If, like many people, you do get into the movie but still suffer from the discomfort you've described, try the following.

1: Drop the tea thing ! Tea has more caffeine than a cup of coffee so unless your an X-Crankster Gangster, it will only increase your anxiety.

2: Try some slightly microwaved warmed milk. Milk sugar, called lactose, is not metabolised into energy as normal sugar is, in fact it chemically becomes a slight sedative when warmed. No, don't add chocolate which is a stimulant or sugar which will give you an adrenaline rush, either of which will keep you awake.

3: Shut all lights, pull up whatever amount of covers your most comfortable sleeping under, lay back and close your eyes. If you are one of the many people who, when already influenced into a state of discomfort, become even more so in darkness, leave on a night light or a dimmed ceiling light, which ever gives you a better feeling of security (nothing that can be remotely considered bright). You want a soothing atmosphere.

4: Try to relax your mind. According to your own taste, mentally imagine your most favorite soothing song, think of your favorite thoughts or memories or imagine something meaningful or pleasurable to you. It cold be from your childhood, romantic, religious, whatever works for you. Remember, this could and probably should be something private and yours alone. Everyone has their private mental world to escape into, somewhere nothing can follow you into. The trick is to discover the best road to yours. You'll soon sleep the sleep of a child.

Regards,

Lenny.

I wldnt drink tea as it has caffiene in it so it wld stop u goin to sleep, perhaps cocoa wld be better. if not try thinkin about other things good things. hope dis helps l8rs

Yes, you're right; it is stupid. People who are disturbed by movies don't understand the simplest things about movies. You really need some lessons in film aesthetics.
Without such guidance you'll continue to confuse movies with reality--which is the same mistake that every censorship group makes. Very childish.
