Well Alien is the best Horror movie of all time and it has only one gory scene in it.
Deliverance is pretty horrific yet non-gory

For me, though, I'd have to say One Hour Photo. I never knew Robin Williams could play such a terrifying character. That movie was so completely and totally creepy because you don't have to suspend much belief at all to realize something like that could really happen. It makes my skin crawl to just think about it.

I'm a pretty big fan of "the Blair Witch Project". I saw it in the theaters when it was only in like 4 theaters before being picked up by a big production company and getting the crap commercialized out of it... I thought it was greatness. The sequel sucked eggs though.
Dont know if this counts but.....Psycho is my all time favorite. the original seen for the first time is just amazing. its more of a suspense but scary to wonder about "mother". the plot is outstanding and twisted, the filming is wonderfully creepy and when I first saw it I had no idea of what schizophrenia even was.....terrific! What a blast to try and figure it out. Other than that, I just love the type of "monster"movies that make you think. Maybe Alien. Good story.
