Horror-Just gore,blood,etc.
Thriller-Good story line,suspense.

To me a horror is always full of blood, guts and gore a thriller is exactly what it says, keeps you on edge of your seat waiting for the next thing to happen as opposed to hiding your face behind your hands or cushion (well i do anyway)
In my opinion then Thrillers are better.

very different genres in my opinion. Horror involves a lot mre gore and death and is usually based on a very extreme murderous human or fictitious character whilst thriller is based more on reality and is derived from situations that could happen e.g hostel definite horror or halloween horror again whereas i would list hostage or premonition more in the thriller category love both equaly

IMO horror is everything bloody, gross and gory, as well as scary
thriller is more like making you psychologically scared rather than with the sight of blood. thrillers usually keep you on your toes during the whole movie and you are scared of what is going to happen

Michael Jackson is a Horror, but he sung Thriller.

Horror normally means a monster is involved, but not always. Horror covers many things, but the bottom line is that it is meant to scare you at some point. Jaws for instance was scary, but did not have a monster per say, just a big shark. Thriller on the other hand is a movie that is meant to capture your attention through excitement and suspense. It is meant to keep you guessing whats going to happen next. Sort of on the edge of your seat. There are some movies out there that combine the two Genres like the recent Number 23 starring Jim Carey, and Hostel. Hope this helps you some.

a thriller mostly involves living people/humans, whereas horrors usually involve un-real people/things or dead people/things

A thriller is designed to hold your interest by the use of a high degree of intrigue, adventure, or suspense... They are similar in that way but a horror is also full of repulsive and horrible acts in an attempt to give you nightmares...

thriller -> more into a suspense and a crime story
horror -> more into a supernatural.

To me, a thriller is a movie that actually requires some thought. And, a good thriller WILL make you think on a few different levels-is more than just "face value". Is not just a movie of mindless violence like a horror movie. A horror movie is t and a; along with blood & gore.

IMO...
Thriller-Murder by Numbers; Silence of the Lambs
Horror-Friday the 13th; Nightmare on Elm Street
Combo-Saw (gross but have MANY levels to it)

My personal fave is a thriller. I have no reason to waste my time on a horror movie that has little plot, little story, lots of blood & gore.

horror - more gore; thriller - more psychological fear than actual on-screen gore

I think horror is meant to terrify you with images. Scary faces, bloody gore, a decapitation so sudden or unexpected that you almost gasp or you do gasp!

Thrillers are meant to terrify as well but I think on a more psychological level. A man obsessed with a family and he will do anything to be a part of it. Its something that can really happen and we can ((on a level)) relate to it. It's reality turned ugly. Its suspense of wanting the good guy/girl to get away from the bad/guy. We all want to get away from the bad guy so again we can relate and it can give us goosebumps to imagine what it would be like to be in the protagonists' shoes.
