EDIT: This is curious..I just checked my 3 Lord of the Rings sets and I can see "play movie" on all the movie discs and "special features" on all the special feature discs.
Unfortunately..it sounds like you have a bad disc.
Anyway of returning it for a good one? Hope so..
Are you sure you have the right disc in?
There are two discs..one that has the movie..and another that has the special features...check what the top of the disc says.
If I were you, I would keep hitting the skip/and or fast forward button(depending on your DVD player) through the special features and you should end up at the start menu.
