Why would Paramount risk Star Trek XI on a prequel instead of a Picard sequel wi!
Question: Here's a clue that worked: Let Jonathan Frakes direct!
If they had made a Star Trek: Continuum about The Q, it would have ruled the box office. Instead, we must trust Zachary Quinto. Just because Stuart Baird f**ked up Nemesis and Frakes' Insurrection wasn't as well-received as it should've been, doesn't mean the need for Paramount to so drastically change course, no pun intended. Am I the only one who wanted to see more of Picard, B-4, Riker, The Titan, The Enterprise-E and more adventures FURTHER into the unknown of the Star Trek Universe? I mean, our future in Star Trek is known only as Picard walking down a corridor with a grin on his face. There is clearly more stories to tell there!!!
Is anyone with me on this one or am I a nutty TNG trekkie?
I also think TNG is better than TOS, I'm sorry. Anyone agree?

I actually think a radical view, like what Star Trek would be like another 500 years into the future would be really neat. A truly conceptual Star Trek. One that doesn't have to tie into all the already known species. Or maybe the TNG crew being warped into the future, trying to find their way back, and keeping a hostile, even more deadly race than the Borg or Species 8472, from following them back to their proper timeline.
I think the reason Star Trek: Enterprise flopped was because people are tired of trying to follow the history.
Even though Star Trek: Voyager hasn't received the cult following status as TNG did, I thought it was the best Star Trek series (after replacing TNG as my favorite, and don't get me wrong, I think TNG was ground-breaking and paved the way for Voyager) because it embarked on an adventure separate from the other subsequent series. And only allowed minimal series cross-over, unlike DS9.
We need a new, fresh Star Trek adventure that does little tying in to older versions that will allow a complete new story and timeline to revive it.
I'm in favor of the farther into the future concept where maybe the Federation has lost it's influence and has had to align with undesirable species to ensure it's survival (because of current corrupt leadership maybe). A rogue crew of the Federation (who hate the current Federation) steals an unbelievably advanced Enterprise prototype that can cross galaxies races off to find other species with honorable morals and intentions to join up with them to return to our Galaxy to help restore the Federation to it's previous glory. Culminating into a huge, gigantic battle against the corrupt Federation allied with the Romulans, Cardasians, Andorians, Kazon (from Voyager), and a strangely delicate and volatile alliance with the Borg.
But that's just my take...
