Like the last person said, Hugh Jackman made a clone at every show. A different water tank was placed their every night to catch the new clone so that they couldn't get out of the theatre. That way no one could learn the secret. He got Christian Bale to come there on the 100th night and set him up for his own "murder."
Someone said Christian Bale had a clone and gave him a life of his own. This is not true! Bale had a real twin, and they sacrificed their own lives to share one and be a great magician.
Confusing wording in your question, but yes, Hugh Jackman's character killed all of his doubles. I don't think that he valued their lives and just viewed them as expendable clones, whereas Christian Bale gave his clone a life to live.

i didn't get that much either. It was Huge Jackman 1 [real 1] coz that machine [the box i think it was called] makes a clone of wateva/whoeva is inside it. So he made a trap door under it & that's when he drowned.
Then the Clone Jackman got shot by the other guy who had a twin who's name escapes me [coz the clone lived]
& yeah then Micheal Cane was showing the little girl who looks like Cody for the Suit Life that trick where he squashes the bird & makes it reappear.
