No critics don't lie...we just give our opinions. Not everyone is going to feel the same way about a movie.

I don't think critics lie. I just think they have different opinions. I have loved tons of movies that critics have HATED! And movies that critics have praised I could have cared less. I also think that some critics just hate on movies because they don't like certain actors, but the movie they hated was actually good. Maybe some critics do lie because movie companies pay them off to say they liked it, but there's no proof in that.

Critics don't lie, they just have really stupid opinions.

Not sure if they lie, they simply express their opinions. But what's good about being a critic is that you can be as mean as you want to and people will still worship you.I think that's the one right they seem to abuse

Critics have their own opinions. It may not agree with yours. I usually agree with them.

Some movie companies have policies that if you want to interview the star of a movie, they can not write anything negative about the star or the movie. So I think it is inevitable.

they don't lie they just simply give opinions but ur opinion and the critics' opinion might be different.

Critics give their opinion on things. They don't lie, they just give what their opinion is. They may not have liked the the movie but you did. Don't pay attention to critics, go and see or listen to something yourself, that's your best bet.

it's just their opinion,. which isn't technically a lie, but most of the time people disagree with them, so yes, they lie,

Sometimes, yes! They show favoritism alot or just try to hate a movie. Most critics think boring, dialogue driven dramas like "The Good Shephard" and "Michael Clayton" are the best movie of the year (idiots). There's never anything to satisfy each and everyone of them unless its something dreary like "The Queen". I also think alot of critics are amateurs. They are Ebert wannabes who somehow get paid to talk in a confusing vocabulary and say how a movie was ruined by some of the most unnoticable factors. And I quote from the order of the phoenix "Harry no longer has as much joy. His face is lacking the gosh-wow-this-is-really-neat grin. He has internalized the secrets and delights of the world of wizards, and is now instinctively using them to save his life.
--- Ebert". Can anyone out there tell me if he knows WTF he's saying or does he think people will get lost his big words thinking its a bad movie?

I think that in some cases they do. They are "critics" (critical) and often their reviews are based on things the audience couldn't care less about (such as subtle inuendos, lighting, camera shots that are supposed to imply something more "intellectual" or deeper). I think they are so busy analyzing plots, lighting everything else LOOKING for something no one outside of their inner circle does, and putting themselves on a higher platform, that they won't admit that a "dumb" slapstick, obvious, juvenile comedy made them laugh. By creating an aura of being so uneasily swayed, they increase their own credibility amongst their peers who strive to meet *their* standards. Sad isn't it? I'd hate to go to a comedy like "Tommy Boy" and not be able to enjoy the stupidity and laugh like I really wanted to.
