Why is it that the voice-over for trailers sounds the same for decades?!

Question: Do they computer generate that provocative deep voice into a standard pitch for movie trailers? I don't believe that the same person is hired to voice over all the movies in the film industry, and that person should be getting old ? Who knows anything about how trailer voice-over works?

There are a few voice actors who are highly sought after by studios because they know the public will take notice when they hear the familiar voice. One of the most famous is Don Lafontaine.

Its usually the same guy hired by the company..He has a steady job. He was on that Geico commercial.
That's Don Fontaine. He's been doing it for years because he's the best.

And yes he is hired to voice over MOST movies, not "all".

He's about 70 now and still sounds the same. Makes a damn fortune.
