the evil pirate dude would be Captain Barbossa. he was the captain of the Black Pearls. he was the one who helped Elizabeth and Will find Captain Jack Sparrow. Davy Jones has sent Jack to Davy Jone's Locker and Captain Barbossa helps the crew, Elizabeth and Will search for Jack. in order to find Captain Jack, they need a captain to guide them the way.

At the end of the second movie, he comes back (at the VERY end), and in the third -- I haven't seen that one yet, but I know he's in it.

you're thinking of Geoffrey Rush. A highly talented actor. He was the treasonous first mate who cheated Capt. Jack out of the 'Black Pearl' and went on to the 'dreaded Isle De Muerta' His character was used as a thread between all 3 movies.

I think you mean Barbossa. He was important at the end of the second movie because capting Jack dissapeared because Davy Jones was after him, so Barbossa takes his place. He becomes the captian of Jack's ship to search for Jack.

that is captain barbosa and he's kinda important cause he makes a deal with calypso. she brings him back from the dead and he sets her free. he has one of the talismans or pieces of eight as they are called that are needed to free her so does jack and that is why captain barbosa wants to rescue him.
