Tolkien fans -- Is there hope for "The Hobbit" movie?!

Question: So, I did some reseach today to see where New Line and Peter Jackson stand in their legal disputes over the LOTR movies (Jackson has been suing them over money due him for the movies), and apparently there seems to be hope over the horizon. Whereas at the beginning of the year, the prospect of Jackson directing "The Hobbit" seemed bleak, now there seems to be a chance. This, I think, would please everyone involved -- most Tolkien fans, as well as all the players of the LOTR movies.

I was wondering -- if "The Hobbit" movie *is* made, who do you think should be cast? Do you think Jackson should direct, or do you think someone else is needed?

I don't know about you, but I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Smaug on the big screen. There have been many dragons in Hollywood as of late, but I am sure they will pale in comparison with the Lord of all Dragons, Smaug the Invincible.

I haven't heard anything new but I would hope that Peter Jackson IS at the helm of any new movie associated with Tolkien's works. He did such an outstanding job with the 'Lord of the Rings' series that I can't imagine anyone else directing.
As far as casting goes, Sir Ian McKellan would have to come back as 'Gandalf' & possibly Ian Holm as Frodo...But Ian is getting a bit old to be playing a younger character. Hugo Weaving would need to do 'Elrond' again as well. The rest of the cast would be new actors but it would be exciting to see how Jackson would portray them. I can't wait to see the finished product!!
I gotta read those books! Loved all the movies, and that dragon sounds like a bad mo fo from how you describe it.
I think Peter Jackson *should* direct the Hobbit. Otherwise most of the fans would be disappointed, I think. The reason for this is that he sent a lot of time and effort on the LOTR movies and he has the necessary background to do the film. And the cast should be the same with Bilbo, Gandalf etc.
There will be hope for "The Hobbit" movie. The cast will have Ian McKellen, Bilbo Baggins and other actors in the trilogy. Peter Jackson will not direct it and someone else will probably direct it.
I still have no idea why in Gandalf's Name they didn't start with that movie BEFORE the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. If they had, many more people would have become acquainted with the characters and familiarized with the plot. If the Hobbit had come out first, the first Lord Of The Rings would not have had to waste so much time in the first hour of the movie explaining who everyone was to the audience, and therefore they could have jumped right into, and had more time for the best parts of the story. Either way, I am highly anticipating a Hobbit movie if and when that day comes. ROHIREM, MOUNT UP!!
they sed no
