Scariest movie ever? Scariest movie of the past few years?!

Question: For me:
The Shining
1408

Answers: For me:
The Shining
1408
Either Bambi meets Godzilla, or one of the current Standard Oil ads showing how diesel trucks will clean the air and how oil companies sabotage of alternative energy research is a good thing and will be a big help in opening up the wildlife refuges in Alaska to drilling and more off-shore platforms etc.
For me: House of Wax!
sister act 2
black christmas
The Shining for sure! I've been meaning to rent 1408-- thanks for reminding me about it : )
I have never been able to watch the Ring, the first one. Another one that freaked me out was always the first Halloween.
i hardly ever watch scary movies but i would say last one i did watch scared me because i woke up and my tv was all staticy lol ' the ring- but i was def. always scared of the nightmare on Elm streets
Back when I was younger, 'The Thing' sent me to bed and I would not get out to go to the bathroom. I would rather go in the bed than get out. :LOl that was funny, now it's so foolish.
I don't really know about the scariest one of all time but recently I saw the remake of Halloween by Rob Zombie and I have to say that it was really really disturbing. I also think House of 1000 Corpses was also disturbing and scary. Movies like that, that have that element of reality scare the hell out of me.
The Changeling. Very creepy movie.
The Ring and The Exorcism of Emily Rose is my choice of movies that were quiet scary...
Return to The Wizard of Oz
Meg
For, me, Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" was the most fright-inducing movie I've ever seen. I remember years ago, being home alone and watching it on TV....I was scared out of my wits!
My daughter laughs at me for thinking it's a scary movie. She thinks the scariest film ever was "Blair Witch Project", which frankly, made me yawn :)
The original version of "The Omen" is a close second...it's psychologically terrifying!
Edit: Meg you didn't ask about books, but I read "The Exorcist" many years ago when it first came out. I literally slept with the lights on for two weeks :(
My pick The Exorcist-the original. The sixth Sense
high tension and probably wolf creek.
I recommend watching the Exorcist III in the dark........alone, and make sure the sound is turned up. It'll scare the sh*t out of you.
the Grudge didn't creep anyone out? That movie gives me the hebbiegebbies... <chill down spine thinking about it>
I don't find horror flicks all that scary. Nice for a little adrenaline rush, though. As for out and out frightened the breath out of me; Fatal Attraction.
I have to agree that Room 1408 was probably the scariest in recent years. Although the Halloween remake was good, it was a different type of horror movie. It wasn't the psychological horror you get from Room 1408.
Spice World. Gah.
The Shining
Jaws
1408
My Wedding Video.....!!!
the new Halloween
1408 scared the crap out of me.
When I was younger, Freddy Krueger was the scariest movie.
Black christmas was a good one!
