Do you know of any good Spanish movies?!

Question: I need to watch a good Spanish movie (movie spoken in Spanish from a Spanish speaking country) for a project in Spanish class.

Answers: I need to watch a good Spanish movie (movie spoken in Spanish from a Spanish speaking country) for a project in Spanish class.
You could watch any of the films by Spanish director Pedro Almadovar. Some of the films mentioned by previous respondents were directed by him. He has a particular knack for creating stories about complex women in complex situations.

"Volver" (Spanish for "To Return") is his most recent work featuring a seemingly beatific but mostly beleaguered housewife played by Penelope Cruz, who must juggle with a few dark family secrets. Here is link to the New York times movie review:

A previous respondent mentioned "Y Tu Maman Tambien" ("And Your Mother, Too"). It is a smart and spicy coming of age movie for two teenage boys who go on an impromptu road trip in Mexico with an attractive older woman. The director also infuses the main plot with fascinating documentary-like asides that hint at some of the sociopolitical issues that inform Mexico. Carlos Cuaron is the director.

Another road trip movie (this time through South America in the 1950s) is "The Motorcycle Diaries" by Walter Salles. It reenacts a historically true road trip involving 29-year-old biochemist named Alberto Granado and a 23 year-old medical student named Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (before he was known as the famous political revolutionary and t-shirt icon Che Guevara).

Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro is a good choice if you like a strong fantasy element to your movies. In this, the main character is a girl named Ophelia who finds herself bridging two worlds--the dangerous realities of the Spanish Civil War and the no less dangerous flights of fancy of the fairy world.

For an action movie, you could watch "El Mariachi" directed by Robert Rodriguez, which was filmed with an impressively minimal budget of $7000! But depsite its rough around the edges appearance, the film was well received at the time of its release with viewers and critics in the independent film circles . He directed bigger budget Hollywood-esque sequels that were not as critically well received.

One note of caution, all of the films do contain some fairly mature content with regard to violence and/or sexuality, but I always thought that we Americans on the whole were unfortunately a little more prudish than our Spanish-speaking film-going peers.
Pans Labrynth. (Rather graphic, but a great film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/

Orfeu Negro http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053146/
All About My Mother
Talk To Her
Open Your Eyes
Central Station
Pan's Labyrinth
You have to watch Nines Queens. It is an amazing crime film. It's about two con artists who get together to pull this ultimate con. It's compared to Snatch and The Usual Suspect for good reason.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is an awesome road trip film. These two slackers take a recently separated MILF on a trip to a beach. Fun film, great story.

El Mariachi and Ammoress Perros are good choices too.
voces inocentes is a good movie based on a true story and amores perros and bad eduacation.
Anything by Pedro Alamovodar.
One of the best movies i've ever seen is called Amores Perros. I added a link check out the trailer and judge for yourself.
