Who loves violent movies?
I know some of them are trying to be funny (Fight Club) but are they really your idea of entertainment?
Films such as Seven. This made me feel sick and depressed me.
I know violence and have been a victim of it, but if I think about it I just want to damage somebody and this is not my way.

Yeah, violence in is life and most of us have been victims. But I think there may be too much emphasis on the graphic detail. Maybe more should just be just be left for the imagination if you want to go there!

Maybe more should just be just be left for the imagination if you want to go there! I do love some violent movies, but not necessarily for their violence. There are facets of human nature and stories to be told where the only way can come through graphic depictions of brutality.
Fight Club was one of the best movies of 1999, but Seven (which had the same director) was one of the very few times that a film has disgusted even me. Although it is not generally believed that a film can cause someone to become violent, or cause a crime, there is definite evidence that it can influence the MANNER of a crime. Seven, with its ornately planned and hideously painful deaths, was in my opinion an irresponsible film. But on the whole I am a crusader for the continuation of violent filmmaking. Violent films do not make me feel violent. Indeed, I am appalled when I see the terrible cut-down versions of films like 'Dirty Harry' on the box. That's why I don't watch TV any more, just DVDs and cinema.
Favourite violent films: Fight Club, Taxi Driver, Dirty Harry 1 - 3, Crank, Crash, Robocop, Psycho, Kill Bill, Sin City, Fargo, Terminator 1 - 2, Gladiator, Aliens, The Hunter, Pulp Fiction, Serpico (most DEFINITELY). One of the most effective fight scenes I saw was in my favourite of all time, 'The Abyss'. So realistic that anyone who has ever been in one will wince. You'll hurt when the hero gets hurt. That, in my own opinion, is what film violence should be. well those kind of movies the only thing that inspire me is not to see any of those types of movies anymore ...
My boyfriend was watching Alpha Dog, Oh My God !!! it was horrible; I have a baby and watching those guys doing drugs and killing innocent people made me sick, I didn't finish the movie I just couldn't.
on the other hand Seven; i watched when I was younger it was one of those movies that makes you think and appreciate life. No way. Agreed Seven makes you depressed but it is AWSOME. You find out how great it is after the depression wears off.
But I love violent films like Killer, Reservoir Dogs, Desperado or Fight Club and its not a macho thing. It makes you sick But Screaming from excitement at the same time. I dont like it that people say films make People Violent. Its Violent people that make films.
Ps:It makes you less sick or depressed than Titanic anyway. no, it doesnt make me want to fight someone personally, altho i can imagine some people would feel that way, but i do enjoy violent movies. there is violence in the world, to not put violence in movies would be to deny a very real facet of our existence. we all have violent impulses, whether or not we choose to act on them is what makes the difference. there is nothing wrong with feelings of wanting to hurt people, i know it sounds wierd, but im sure everyone has wanted to hurt someone before. its whether or not we choose to follow these feelings that makes the difference. I can't take real violent movies, like the Passion of the Christ. I regret seeing that movie, because the violence really upset me. I also can't watch Hotel Rwanda and Schlinder's List, because of the subject matter. It just breaks my heart. HORROR MOVIES ROCK !!!!! HAPPY HAUNTINGS !!!! Yeah, those movies are extremely violent, and at the same time they manage to be great, Fight Club, Seven, you forgot to mention American History X (also by Edward Norton), millions of movies are just violent, but violence in those is just graphic, which makes the difference, they are more impressive and kind of disgusting, and still fantastic because of the way they develop, the good performances, etc...at least American history X is very moving....other films such as Pulp fiction and Sin city are also great movies and still....graphically violent....but also, what about all the war films? films about the Holocaust? arent most of those just fantastic and at the same time terribly violent? I think Monty Python is so violent and it makes me cringe, every time I see a poor girl gets mutilated in the notorious comfy chair, this should be verboten you know. Or go see Naked Lunch on a sober stomach and you know what I'm talking about. I think you have to be very particular about what you let into the computer software of your mind..I've always detested the Nightmare on Elm street series, and the movie "Very Bad Things" is I think the worst I have ever seen. I still regret having watched it. The mind is a computer, and can be programmed with 'very bad things" if we allow it.....it's not just "only a movie"..movies, like music (violent misogynist rap
sucks) can and will influence our behavior and sense of well being...I'm a big fan of the happy ending, or at least movies that resolve.....as in life.
