What is the worst sports movie of all time?
Answers: "Safe at Home" (1962). A kid tells his friends he knows Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, then has to prove it. Don't remember if the kid lived in Florida, but ends up at spring training with the Yankees. The movie tried to cash in on Maris's hitting 61 homers the year before, and Mantle's popularity. Pitcher Whitey Ford is in it also.

A team/player is playing horribly, finds some sort of "magical" inspiration, and somehow wins while using the most generic cliches possible. Just a couple that turn my stomach. The replacements, Players-- a tennis movie from about 25 years back.
And The Main Event, come to think of it. I hated the new version of "The Longest Yard"...which is odd because Adam Sandler does really good sports movies... Most of them are bad. The real question is what are the best sports movies? The Replacements by far
