It was funny in junior high drama class but I've grown out of that sort of humour long ago. No, it would have been discrimination if he wasn't considered for the part at all. yea, they should have hired a fat woman!!! or maybe john travolta wanted the part :) I haven't seen the movie , but that is pretty sad. Not really...he plays with a few jumbo's parked around his house...so i've heard... How is it discrimination?

Being a woman, I find nothing wrong with it, and if I were an overweight woman, I still wouldn't care.
It's just a movie. Jesus christ. No it's not. For the show Hairspray, the main character has always been a guy playing a woman. That is the whole idea of Hairspray.; Divine played the mother in the original.. so Travolta plays the newer one. Travolta is funny, he's a personality already known to us, do you think we would go see the movie if the woman was fat, and we didn't know her.?
