Answers: The film you are likely thinking of is "A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story", a 2006 TV film (probably Lifetime) about the murder of a transgendered teen? This is the only "Gwen" film that fits the description.

Gwen Araujo was born Eddie Araujo. She was biologically a male who, from early childhood desired to be female. She felt like she was born into the wrong body.

In her teens she began living as a female... most likely with hopes of getting a sex change in the future. This is called "transitioning." When someone of one gender starts to live as another.

She was going by the name "Lida" when she was introduced to a group of "friends" that she begun to hang out and party with. She had fooled around sexually with at least two of the males she had become "friends" with.

One night there was another party and upon forced inspection, a girl at the party revealed that Gwen "had a penis and was really a guy posing as a girl"

The guys Gwen had fooled around with were furious to discover this. One of them (Mike Madgison) begun choking Gwen in the hallway and many people started leaving the party. After everyone else was gone two others (Jaron Nabors and Jose Merel) and also started to beat on Gwen. They beat Gwen for nearly 5 hours before Jose hit her in the head with a frying pan then struck her with a can of tomatoes that left a very nasty, blood gushing wound.

Jaron Nabors hit her with a barbell weight, Mike Magidson kneed her in the head against the wall. Magidson and Nabors then strangled her with a rope in the garage while Merel cleaned the blood out of the carpet. They then hog-tied her, rapped her in a blanket and placed her in the bed of a pick-up. The three of them, plus another friend, Jason Cazares drove her to Silver Fork (parkland in El Dorado County, CA) and buried her in a shallow grave.

Her body wasn't discovered until two weeks later. None of the partygoers reported the crime and the assailants agreed to keep hush hush about it. It was Jason Nabors' friend who told the police and after being interrogated Nabors told them the location of the body.

The trial(s) were long and complicated. But in the end the punishment did not fit the crime. Madidons and Merel were convicted of second degree murder and both face 15-life. Cazares entered a plea of no contest to charges of voluntary manslaughter. Jaron Nabors got off on a lesser charge of manslaughter because he ended up confessing and aiding the police with the case.

This was a violent HATE CRIME and had the victim been a heterosexual male or female all four of the men involved would have gotten life sentences and at least three of them would be sitting on death row. But of course that didn't happen because Gwen was "different".

Murder is murder, no matter who the victim is.

It just shows you how screwed up the US is. Source(s):
