The better Star Wars villian?
As a child (and now as a 24 year old), my favourite Star Wars was always Return of the Jedi (and no its not because of the Ewoks!) and well, there was always one scene that freaked me out: the scene when the Empror tries to kill Luke with Force Lightening.
Anyway, onto topic again. After seeing all 6 films, I have concluded that the Emperor is a far more scarier than Darth Vader and comapred to the Emperor, Vader is a wuss. After all, his motives for going to the Dark Side were for love. The Emperor doesn't have that emotion, I don't think. He's colder, darker and more manipulative.
Anyway, I think the Emperor is a better and scarier villian, especially in ROTS and ROTJ. Do you agree or disagree and WHY do you agree/disagree?
Answers: the emperor is smart, that is very scary, he basically put together a confederacy to get the senate to give him absolute power. he obviously had some hand in anakins birth through the mediclorins. he has the knowledge which makes him dangerous and scary. on the other hand vader is more take action now and think later. never once did he think about what he will do, he just did. which is also scary.
on the whole, id say for the pure evil, id say vader. he does what he is told w/o objection. when it comes to a villan it is the emperor. he has the smarts to manipulate anyone and get what he wants. I would disagree. Vader is the ultimate villian. I would even take Boba Fett over that old wrinkled Emperor! Boba Fett is a gangster. Star Trek is better any day. Darth Vader Rules! I grew up in the late 70s and into the 80s. As a coolness icon, Darth Vader's up there with Bruce Lee, John Shaft and Dr. J jarjar Deffo the Emperor.
You don't get to be the ultimate bad guy in a universe full of killers without scaring the crap out of them in some respect.
Real villains all want to be self employed so it takes a real 'heavy' to keep them all in order. Good point. I see where you're coming from but Vader is so many people's ultimate villain. I'd rather not come face to face with either of them!! Or Darth Maul. He's just creepy! Of all the Sith, I actually found Darth Maul the most
menacing looking, however I was so disappointed
that his role was soooo limited...
And that double edged light sabre? DAMN!! Although I'm a Vader, I have to say that the Emperor is the better villian.
Think about this, from all the time between ROTS and ROTJ Vader was thinking of overthrowing the Emperor and rule the Galaxy. If you read the novels, he even secretly tried to develop an Apprentice to asist him in this task, then planned to bring Luke to the Dark Side to help him do it (as he revealed in The Empire Strikes Back). Was he successfull, not until the end of ROTJ. The Emperor ruled !
Darth Maul was just an animal, Darth Tyrannus just a political idealist, easily fooled by the Emperor. And finally Anakin was manipulated.
