There's not a ton of difference. A high end HD-XA2 will allow you more user features and a better DVD upscaler. The Toshibas all also have HDMI outputs, which is best hook-up you can use for audio and sound. The add-on can still reach 1080 lines of resolution, and can output at a high quality.
I like the A-2 over the add-on myself, as it costs only a little more and does offer a little more. But you get a solid player either way.
