Answers:
I love any of Michael Mann's films and that includes Miami Vice. Someone mentioned the cinematography not being what they expected, but I strongly disagree. The cool blue and pistol greys are consistent with his other films which goes to show the detachment of the characters to their world as they inwardly struggle with their personal crisis.
The actors make an admirable stab at the script which is admittedly full of quick-fire exposition and drug lingo. Anyone not familiar with police procedural films will be put off as the information comes, maybe, too quick and fast for most to keep up. I found myself sometimes two steps behind the information being shown.
Overall, don't expect the 80's Miami Vice, though Mann stays true to the grit which made the first season so cool. And I dare anyone not to love the scene with Farrel and Gong Li as they race across the ocean on that speedboat.
